Sam assigned me to go out of the studio to take some action sport shots. I took it in the documentary way and took photos of an event-"Holi--A Hindu Celebration of Colors" on Sunday. During Holi, people throw colors at each other to celebrate the coming spring. It is one of the biggest gathering event in India. I used very fast shutter speed to capture the "moments".
I really like the last picture, I think that one almost conveys the most action by showing the aftermath of it. I think with the other pictures, it is easy to see that an activity is going on, but I think if you lowered the shutter speed so that the pictures were a little blurry, that would have captured the energy more.

I agree with Christoffer about the last photo and the sense of aftermath one gets. The disconnect between the happy event and the look on her face is also interesting. Keep thinking about composition, though. Most of these keep the main action in the center of the frame... change it up!

I think your strongest ones are your second and last image because they capture the emotions and the movement well. I agree that the centering gets repetitive in this series so taking the photos from a lower angle or even a shorter or closer distance for these action shots would add interest to the series.
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job of showing expression and movement. The shots where you captured the liquid mid-air are awesome. Since you're really good with actually capturing the images, in the future maybe you could try working more with composition and the angles that you take the photos from.

I love the way you captured movement in these photos. Also the light takes on a nice quality when it bounces off of the plastic, and juxtaposed with the color of the paint enhances that. Cool photo shoot idea!

ReplyDeleteI really like the second one which you captured the moment of liquid on the air and I also like the close up in the last. I think you did really good job. I know it's very difficult to work on composition while you are capturing a very short moment from my experiences. So I guess you did great job!
