i like your second image conceptually. I like how the American flag is not 100% there, making it a more interesting but still recognizable image. I think this would be a good place to use the strobist kit or else widen the aperture
Good demonstrations - first image is shallow depth of field (therefore low number of f stop and wide aperture) and we see just one section in focus. Also remembering that by being close to your subject you are decreasing depth of field. Second image is using a high f stop (small aperture opening) and therefore everything should be in focus (again working with fact that you are very close to your subjects peanut butter and flag). The final two images show how slow shutter speed has blurred the water moving in the aquarium - final image capturing it by bumping up the iso. SAW
