The first image has incredible lines -- its really cool how that curve is followed by the path made on the pavement and the way the angle that the cars and trees form. It really helps your eye travel nicely to the upper right of the photo into the distance.
I agree that the first image works really well because of its lines. In the second image I see a couple of diagonals, which make that one work well, too. I really like how the round shape is repeated so many times throughout the image in different sizes (the balloons, heads in the foreground and background, the sunglasses).
