Ali's Punk Post (sorry if they're hard to see!)

  1. These are really cool, Ali. The presentation of the order of these works really well and I like how it follows the style of the milk box missing ads. The sort of dirt/dark dust film over her face & the makeup meet your dramatic yet messy look very nicely. I like the high key lighting and the composition of the last four shots especially. I think you could have improved though by using some different angles or heights that you shoot from.

  2. The various angles/points of view are great, especially the 4th and 5th photos. Since we are looking down on your model, they make her look insecure and vulnerable. I think that the lighting is also really successful. The text is great, but I kind of wish it was a little messier.

  3. I like the way that you put narrative in your project and it looks like documentary photos. I really love the fifth one. The angle is great, the light is awesome and you really captured that cool and beautiful moment. I really like over flashed photos these day, such as photos of Juergen Teller who does marc jacobs ad and that photo really reminded me that.Photos are really great, but I wonder if there is better way that you could use text.I think it's necessary because it completes the narrative but I feel there can be some improvement in the text.

  4. I like that you always tell a story with your photos. You tell an interesting narrative about someone that is lost but may not want to be found. I think you also bring up ideas about identity, and the way people are expected to behave versus how they want to behave. I think your last photo is particularly effective with the writing and composition. I like that the writing follows her body. It might be interesting if you took your model to a different location. ~Lena

  5. I love that you used a photo from a previous project and connected it to this one - it's a really clever idea to show progression throughout your pieces. The dark/gritty aspect of these really speak to a punk 80's theme, and you use both text and composition to your advantage. The picture with her hair splayed all around is really beautiful. I suppose the only thing is that if she's running away, it might be better to see her in an outdoor, grungier area - Alex
