Swilson uses the light studio

In the past, I have tended to go for a much higher contrast shot when using flash lighting that had a lot of dark tones to it. This time I decided to go the other way and use lots of light and flat white background.

  1. I think the bottom two are more interesting because of the lighting. While the top two are nice portraits, they seem kind of one dimensional, where the bottom two are more striking. I like the white backround, light hair, white sweater, light shirt, etc. It's a cool effect.

  2. I like that you took the risk to try the extreme white background. I think it is effective at focusing on your subject and capturing emotions while eliminating other distractions.

  3. I think the last two are a little bit over-exposed. Consider a smaller shutter speed? The second one is a nice portrait. Well done with the shadow on the profile to capture the details of her face.
