the first 2 i was just experimenting using my external flash directly pointed at the lights...i like how the lights' brightness is enhanced on the edges and takes on this glow-y type feeling that i will probably use in another project, i really like it.
the last 3 i was just using my external flash to capture the lighting and curves/lines. (finally got some bokeh in the FOURTH* :) ) thanks for catching that mariel.

I only see bokeh in the 4th image, not the 2nd, right? I think?
ReplyDeleteI like that effect a lot and think that it would be interesting to explore it further. It almost looks like fireflies. I do wish that you bumped up the contrast in the first couple of images to make the black even "yummier."
I really like the area of the last photo that is devoted to just blackness. I think it adds a lot to the composition of the picture overall.

Interesting shots compositionally. The last three feel very architectural, interesting lines and textures even in difficult lighting. The areas of blackness are balance, and key to making the images work.
ReplyDeleteI love the composition of the second shot, it directs the eye really well through the whole image.
ReplyDeleteI really like the second and third shots -- those catch my eyes the most. The third surprises me because it does not look like campus common (I think that's where you took them...) which is really cool -- it's almost got this "magical" feel to it. The second one also is neat because the lighting and composition of it make it seem as though it's not ordinary lights that you're photographing -- they look more special than that.
